Behind the Lens: Filming Bay Fields for Galgorm Properties
Capturing the essence of a new development like Bay Fields in Carnlough using aerial videography, is about more than simply pointing a camera — it’s about telling a story. When Galgorm Properties asked us to create a short video showcasing their latest site, the goal was clear: present the space, layout, and setting in a way that feels expansive, calm, and aspirational — all within 90 seconds.
The Creative Brief
The brief focused on three main priorities:
Site Layout – Emphasise generous plot spacing and thoughtful road design.
Location – Highlight the proximity to the coast and the dramatic Antrim landscape.
Tone – Create a sense of calm, quality, and future potential — without relying on voiceover or text.
This meant using a clean, cinematic approach that let the visuals speak for themselves.
The Technical Setup
Drone Footage: All aerials were shot using a DJI drone, flown under CAA regulations with full consideration of wind, altitude restrictions, and safe proximity to nearby structures. We used smooth orbital shots, overhead tracking, and slow reveals to give viewers a strong sense of the site’s scale and surroundings.
Editing Workflow: Footage was colour-corrected in DaVinci Resolve, with particular care taken to balance green and blue tones without over-saturating the natural look of the landscape. Transitions were kept minimal to allow for smooth, flowing movement throughout.
Music Selection: A subtle ambient track was chosen to match the tone — calm, forward-looking, and slightly aspirational — reinforcing the brand identity without overwhelming the visuals.
Challenges & Solutions
Weather: As always in Northern Ireland, timing the shoot to avoid wind and patchy sunlight was key. Flexibility and fast response times were essential.
Site Activity: Filming while light construction was still ongoing meant careful frame selection and strategic cropping to avoid distractions or clutter.
Visual Storytelling: Without interior shots or people, the narrative had to be created entirely through motion, pacing, and the natural alignment of structures and roads. This called for intentional framing and thoughtful drone choreography.
The Result
The final video offers a concise, high-quality visual impression of Bay Fields that Galgorm Properties can use across web, social, and presentation channels. It gives future buyers a feel for the space and setting — not just the specs — and reflects the care that’s gone into the development.
If you’re a developer or estate agent looking to elevate your marketing materials, a carefully crafted video like this can help your properties stand out — even before the first house is built.
